Lommie was born about 1882. Lommie Hobbs ... She passed away in 1909. [1]
Lommie and Jim lived in a simple farmhouse on River Road, not far from the Cape Fear River in Flea Hill Township, about 10 miles north of Fayetteville. Soon after marriage, they were involved in a tale of rape and an unjust hanging in 1900, the details of which were printed 24 Oct 1982 in The Fayetteville Observer Times. The printed version was hotly disputed by Jim's daughters. After the tragedy, Jim and Lommie moved to Linden, NC. They are buried in Sardis Church Cemetery, Cumberland County, NC. They have an infant child that is buried at Sardis Church Cemetery also. Also look up original story 29 May 1900, Fayetteville Observer.[2]
