Sergt. Joseph Towle, son of Philip (1), married, first, Dec. 14, 1693, Mehetabel, daughter of John and Sarah (Colcorci) Hobbs. t She was born Feb. 28, 1673. He married second, March 4, 1731, Sarah, daughter of Morris Hobbs. He probably lived a little north of the village on the road to Portsmouth, on the place marked "A. Norris" in the N. H. Atlas of 1892. He served in King William's war, and was selectman in 1723, 1729 and 1733. He died Sept. 2, 1757
