George W Hobbs was born on the 17th of June 1794 in Anne Arundel, Maryland the son of Caleb Hobbs Hobs 1769–1853 and his wife, Hannah Norwood 1773–1811.
After serving as a Private in the War of 1812, George W Hobbs married Julia Anna ELLSON 1798–1887 in Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland on the 31st of December 1818.

In 1850 George W. Hobbs, wife, Julia Anna and children Caroline A, Robert W, Rachel, Joseph R, Matilda, and Ann Hobbs moved from Ann Arundel, Maryland to Milan, Allen County, Indiana.
George Hobbs passed away on the 28th of September 1875 and was interred in the Bowers Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana,
