Biography

Adam Hochstetler was born on May 1, 1775 in Lancaster, Province of Pennsylvania, son of Christian Hochstetler (1746–1814) and Barbara Rupp (1750–~1814).

Adam (22) married Hannah Hardman (15) (born on October 6, 1781 in Mount Eden, Spencer, Kentucky, USA; daughter of Abraham Hardman) on June 20, 1797 in Spencer. Their children were:

Adam died on September 1, 1826 in Charlestown, Clark, Indiana, United States, aged 51. He was buried in Olive Branch Cemetery, Clark County, Indiana.[1] [2]

8202, Adam Hostetler, (son of Christian7908, grandson of Jacob, 1st) , Charlestown, Ind., at death, was b. May 1, 1775, in Lancaster Co., Pa., d. Sept. 1, 1826, is buried at the Olive Branch cem etery. He m. Hannah Hardman, b. Oct. 6, 1781, d. July 22, 1853, older sister of the wife of Christian Hostetler, of fam. 8724. He resided in Shelby Co., Ky., till about 1825, when he removed to Clark Co., Ind. He was a preacher in the Dunkard church, beginning his ministry while very young. He once traveled on horseback from Kentucky to Mississippi, ordaining elders in the Dunkard church. He had much influence in the conversion of his nephew Joseph, son of his brother Abraham, and who became one of the greatest preachers of his community, in his time. During his later years he was quite in sympathy with what was termed the reformation, when many Dunkard churches turned to what are now known as Christian churches.
