John Hodge md 1761 York Co, PA, to Elizabeth Thompson (church registry). He was the son of Margaret & William Hodge Sr. The will of William Sr. is dated Dec 31, 1766. In it he divides his estate between: wife Margaret, daughter Mary "wife of Richard Say", daughter Margaret "wife of George Hodge", "youngest daughter" Sarah, and named sons as "eldest son Samuel", "second son William" and "third son John". Also named were "grandchild William son of Margaret", "grandson William son of Samuel". Executors were wife Margaret Hodge and son William Hodge. Witnesses: Jeremiah Chamberlain, James Warden & John Thompson.

Note that his daughter Margaret Hodge married another "Hodge" - George Hodge. There is a Francis Hodge Sr. living near William Hodge Sr. and I am suspicious that George might prove to be his son. From marriage record of a daughter, Francis Hodge and his family were evidently Quakers but I have not traced the children of Francis Hodge Sr.

According to my info, Samuel Hodge remained in PA on his inherited land. He and brother William served in the county militia. Sarah married James Morrison and remained in PA, I believe Cumberland Co. The rest of the family apparently traveled together to NC where my John & Elizabeth Hodge and George & Margaret Hodge settled in (now) Rockingham Co.

Elizabeth & William Hodge Jr. traveled as far as Grindal Shoals, Union Co, SC where he died in 1796. The Sayes and the Thompsons went on to Madison Co, GA.

Children of John & Elizabeth (Thompson) Hodge were: Elizabeth, Francis md Nancy Walker, Sarah, my ancestor William md Alice Ann Garner, James, and John Charles.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
