John Hodgson was born in County Durham, England.

Birth and Baptism

On 18 Jul 1803 John Hodgson, of Saughshield, born 20 Feb 1803, 3rd son of John Hodgson (miner, native of this parish) by his wife Ann Walton (native of this parish) was baptised at Weardale, St John's Chapel. ^[1]

Marriage

On 3 Sep 1831 John Hodgson (of St.Andrew, Auckland) married Priscilla Walton at Weardale, St John's Chapel. ^[2] Note that the marriage of their son Joseph in Ontario names both parents. ^[3]

Death

John Hodgson died on 16 Apr 1862 and was buried at Saint John's Anglican Church Cemetery, York, Haldimand-Norfolk Regional Municipality, Ontario, Canada. His date of birth was given as 20 Feb 1803 which matches the birth date given at baptism. ^[4]
