Note N136The California death index published online at RootsWeb.com lists the maiden name of Elizabeth Sattler's mother as "Hoeffer" (rather than "Hoffert" which is the family's spelling), but I'm inclinded to believe Hoeffer is the correct name, or possibly Hoffer. The Roots Web page of the Heidt family has it spelled Hoffer: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:558183&id=I584660730 Whether spelled Hoeffer, Hoffert, or Hoffer, I cannot find any RootsWeb direct links to older generations - BUT there are possible ancestors names in the "Beresan District Odessa Regional INterest Group Newsletter" on the Internet: http://www.grhs.org/rig/bdo/bdonews.htmlhttp://www.migrations.org/individual.php3?record=7577 Name«tab»Lifespan«tab»Where Born Jacob ROEMMICH«tab»1851-1917«tab»Worms, Odessa, Russia now Ukraine Additional Notes«tab»Migration Steps 4 July 1906 - Jacob Roemmich, the elder, with some of his family migr. to Streeter, ND.. Hoffers had migr. from Neudorf, Odessa, S. Russia in 1896. «tab»to Streeter, Stutsman County, ND in 1906 Researcher: Judy A. Remmick-Hubert remmick@@aol.com <remmick@@aol.com> In North Dakota, there is a Jacob Hoffert, age 65 in the 1920 census of Emmons County, living in Strasbourg Village, a German speaking man from Russia arrived 1893, house 25, family 27, supervisors district 2, enumeration district 109, sheet 2; Series T625, Roll 1333, page 169. Jacob's wife, Theresa, and son, Jacob Jr., are also in the house. Jacob would be a candidate for a brother (or cousin?) of Margaret Hoffert. He would be five years younger than Margaret. Margaret and John named one of their sons Jacob, so their is name congruence, but it could all be a coincidence.
