Biography

Minnie was born in 1880 in Newark, WV, the daughter of Eri Hoff and Linda Hart and the second of their ten children. She probably grew up in Newark and possibly later in McElroy in Tyler County, Her father was a farmer and a Methodist Episcopal minister. In 1903 at the age of 22, she married Benjamin Franklin Zeigler, the son of German immigrants, at the Methodist Episcopal Parsonage in New Martinsville, WV. He was a machinist working in the oil well supply business, and they followed the oil boom, living first in Grant, WV, later in Hocking, OH, and finally in Fort Worth, TX. They had four children together, one of whom died young early in their marriage. Her husband died in 1973 in Fort Worth, and Minnie followed him two years later in 1975 at the age of 94, also in Fort Worth. They are buried together in the Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
