Biography

Anna was born in 1874 in Union District, Harrison County, West Virginia, probably in Clarksburg. She was the daughter of Silas Hoff and Lydia Robinson. She grew up in Clarksburg where her father worked as a cabinet maker and butcher. She spent her life in the Clarksburg area, continuing to live with her parents or sisters, doing needlework a one point (1910 census), working as an assistant in a doctor's office (1920) and doing housework. Maude died of heart disease at her home in Bridgeport, WV in 1951: she was 77 years old. She is buried together with her parents and siblings in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Clarksburg, WV.
