Ida Cordelia Hoge, the 5th child (and 1st daughter) of Joseph and Mary Hoge, was born September 1883 and died when she was thirty-seven years old in August of 1920. At the age of twenty, on September 12, 1903, Ida married Samuel H. McMurray who worked as a bookkeeper for various coal corporations in Soddy, Graysville and Dayton, TN and as Postmaster for Stearns, KY.

Ida and Samuel had seven children:

Howard Jackson McMurray

Ida died before her youngest child was two years old. At that time, the baby was sent to live with his uncle James Hoge and his wife Chesster. The older four living children were sent to live with their Uncle Jack Hogue. A year later, in 1921, Sam married Vina Jones who had two children, and he brought his children back to Stearns, KY to live with him, their stepmother and her children.
