Asahel was born in 1720. He is the son of John Holcomb and Ann Pettibone.
Although he was fifty-five years old when British troops fired on Americans at Concord and Lexington, Asahel Holcomb turned out on the first call for troops on the Lexington Alarm and served as a private in the Connecticut militia [D.A.R. Patriot Index, 336]. As a citizen, he was a selectman, Justice of the Peace, and a representative to the General Assembly from East Granby.
