Biography

He was the youngest child of Wesley Winfield Holder and Emily Grabs. He married Elizabeth Jerome on August 1, 1942, and lost his life less than two years later at Boy Scout Camp Lasater in Forsyth County, NC, rescuing a boy who was drowning. He was posthumously awarded the Carnegie Hero Medal.
