DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Martha by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Martha:
Many used both Henson / Hinson spellings. Hinson tends to be earliest, and Henson became primary spelling in latter years. It isn’t uncommon to see them both used at the same time. I think literacy played a big part in the spelling they used.
Are you sure she was born in Stafford Co. VA? This seems unlikely when several of her family members are associated with Bertie Co. NC, which isn't nearby, at least by 18th century standards.
I believe Stafford, VA is correct, I can review my research (hard copy records) and get back with you. This is a confirmed direct ancestor of mine. I can confirm her husbands migration from Stafford, Virginia; North Carolina (Rev War); to Pauling, Georgia. His US Rev War Pension confirms this migration. I am almost positive they are the same. Their children continued to migrate into Alabama, Texas, and other states.
These migrations have created challenges in locating burial information.
