Henry was the oldest child of Heinrich Holder and Elizabeth Null. He was born on January 31, 1780 in what was then Surry County, North Carolina and baptized on January 21, 1781 at Shiloh Lutheran Church[1]
He married Maria Magdalena Leinbach, daughter of Benjamin Leinbach and Christina Volck, in 1805.[2]. They were the parents of at least seven children.
