Biography

Decatur was born in Ohio in 1851. ^[1][2] Decatur first married Emma Stutsman in 1873. ^[3] It appears she either passed away or they divorced as they are not living together in 1880 per the US census. ^[4] He was the third husband of Mary Fry. He adopted her three children from her first marriage to Thomas Hart Benton Porterfield. ^[5][6]

D.C. (??) shows Decatur had lived in CA 12 years prior to his death. He worked in the insurance business but was not employed at the time of his death. Though hard to read, it appears that Decatur was cremated. ^[7] He died in 1929 in Los Angeles. ^[7]
