I was born Susan Kay Holloway on October 28, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Wichita County, Texas. I am the daughter of Joseph Francis Holloway, born in Bowie, Montague County, Texas (1920), and Hal Denton Holloway, born in Wichita Falls, Texas (1920).

I followed my parents from Wichita Falls to Freer, then Kingsville, as my father pursued his career in the oil business. The Korean Conflict came about and my father answered the call for his second tour of duty, the first being WWII.

After Korea, we came to Tyler, Texas, in the midst of the beautiful rose fields of East Texas. My father worked for Humble Oil and Refining Company and then had his own "landman services" company.

I married my farmer husband in 1965. We have been married as of this writing for 47 years. I worked in various jobs for 10 years and settled down at a law firm in Tyler, where I stayed for 25 years. I'm now retired. Tyler has grown so much that we moved a little South to Bullard, in 1991. Here we live on 15 acres and enjoy our dogs, chickens and goats. The farmer also became a "landman" and is still working in that capacity.

I have been hooked on genealogy for years and am a member of The General Society of Mayflower Descendants (at large), The Mary Tyler Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, The James Smith Chapter of the National Society United Daughters of 1812 (organizing member), and the Charles G. Davenport Chapter Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
