Biography

Hannah Cassandra Holloway was born on 23rd July 1833 in Pennant Hills, New South Wales (Australia). [1] She was the second of three daughters of Samuel Holloway and Mary Ann Pincham. She was christened in 1833 in St Anne's Church of England (now Anglican Church), Kissing Point. [2]

Hannah and her sisters were children (their father), grandchildren (mother's father) AND great grandchildren (mother's maternal grandparents Patfield) of convicts.

When Hannah was just thirty months of age, In January 1836, her father was convicted of harbouring bushrangers and transported to Norfolk Island. Soon afterward, her mother moved in with, and ultimately married, William Lutherborrow. Hannah would have a further eight (younger) half-siblings.

Hannah, or Anna as she was sometimes listed, married Henry Smith on 17th October 1854 in the Presbyterian Church, Tumut, New South Wales. [3] They had six children, three sons and three daughters:

  1. Luther Victor (1855-96)
  2. Henry (1860-1917)
  3. Millicent (1862-)
  4. Rubina A (1864-99); married surname Mills
  5. Florence E (1865-)
  6. Percy Nigel (1871-)

Aged 81 years, she passed away on 7th January 1915 in Woollahra, New South Wales. [4]
