Grandfather

John Holmes left the Port of Ireland in Dec. 1773 on the "Caroline" to Virginia as an indentured servant. He had three sons known of his first marriage to a Margaret who must have died prior to John, as it appears he married a second time to a Hannah who became the administrator of the estate about 1815-1817 in Lincoln County, Georgia.
