Stephen was born in 1689 at Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He was a son of Stephen Holmes and Mary Hobby.[1]
Family
Stephen married Sarah Green September 7, 1710; officiated by Samuel Hoit, JP (Vol 1, Pg 124), recorded at Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut.[3] Sarah died on September 15, 1713.[4]

Huntington transcribed this Stamford town record as, "two children b May 3 and d. same day."[4] Also attributes the child who died on August 11, 1712 to Stephen Holmes who married to Martha Gibe on September 7, 1704 (unlikely the identical Stephen Holmes).
Stephen Holmes married second Martha Mead February 27, 1717; officiated by Ebenezer Mead, JP (Vol ER Pg 182), recorded at Greenwich, Fairfield, Connecticut.[5][6][7]
Stephen Holmes, born before September 1, 1728, Greenwich, Connecticut
Mercy Holmes, born about 1730 in Greenwich, Connecticut; d February 24, 1761 in Stamford, Connecticut (both birth dates are shown in this source, which provides no further substantiation for her name or birth)
Death and Legacy
We do not know the death date for Stephen. His death was not recorded at Stamford (where is father died in 1710)[4] or at Greenwich.[8]
Spencer P. Mead reports that Stephen removed to Vermont,[2] but CTGenWeb takes issue with this statement. He may have removed to Greenwich, as he is reported to have attended the 2d Congregational Church at Greenwich.[1]
Research Notes
Spencer P. Mead identifies the wife of Stephen Holmes as Martha Mead (b 6 Sept 1729), daughter of Timothy Mead and Martha Weeks.[9] Although incorrect, this apparently was followed by Cutter. Spencer P. Mead corrected the statement in his 1911 work, Ye Historie of ye Town of Greenwich.[2] Martha was actually Martha Mead (b 11 Dec 1693), the daughter of Jonathan Mead and Martha Finch.[7]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Stephen by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Stephen:
It appears there may be two different Stephen Holmes born around same time and place. As the two may have been conflated, I've disconnected Martha for now.
What is your source for his birth and death dates? Also it appears you connected and disconnected Martha Mead as his spouse and there is a VR for a marriage to Sarah Green. Are there sources that show his daughter Mary is correct? Mary’s mother seems to be Martha, hence my question.

According to a few different sources, I feel confident that this is a duplicate to Stephen Holmes (1689-1728)
