Biography

Gwendoline Louisa (Holmes) Derecourt was born on January 14, 1917. Her parents were Staff Serg Ronald Sinclair Smith (~1892 - 1945) and Theodora Frances (Holmes) Smith (1895 - 1919)^[1] .

In 1920, Gwen was adopted by her maternal grandparents Eliza Louisa Lilly (Fischer) Holmes (1871-1947) and Daniel Mearns Holmes (1861-1945).

Gwendoline married William James Derecourt (1913 - 1998) in 1939 in New Zealand.
