HAMPTON - Ms. Helen Holmes Christy Harrison, 79, departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 6, 1996, after a long illness. She passed away at her home.

Born in Hampton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Royston Holmes and the late Rachel Scott Holmes. She was a Hampton resident for the greater part of her life.

She leaves behind many loving relatives and friends. Among her best friends are Ms. Betty L. Fuller and Ms. Jane C. Fowler, both of Hampton.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where she served for many years as assistant parish secretary. She will be remembered for her many charitable activities as well as her performances with the Hampton Lions Club Jamborees and the Peninsula Community Theater.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter, Robert H. Christy Jr. of Hampton, Dr. Jefferson C. Harrison of Yorktown and Rachel Ann Harrison of Keswick; three grandsons and one great-grandson.

A funeral service will be conducted at St. John's Church on Wednesday at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Rodney L. Caulkins.

Memorials may be given to the St. John's Discretionary Fund, 100 W. Queens Way, Hampton, Va. 23669.
