Biography

Lyman K. Holmes, son of Jedediah Holmes and Mary Kinney, was born in 1831 in Amity, Allegany county, New York.

In 1850 Lyman Holmes is recorded as being nineteen years old and living in the household of his father in Amity, Allegany county, New York. ^[1]

About 1853 in New York, Lyman wed Emily (born abt 1833). Lyman and Emily had at least four children:

1. Frances A. Holmes, b. 1854 in NY;
2. Charles B. Holmes, b. 1857 in NY;
3. Carrie L. Holmes, b. 1864 in Mich;
4. Samuel E. Holmes, b. 1866 in Mich.

In 1855 Lyman K. Holmes, his wife Emily and their daughter Frances are recorded as living in the household of Lyman's father in Amity, Allegany county, New York. ^[2]

In 1863 Lyman registered for the U.S. Civil War Draft: he was then thirty-two years of age and a resident of Bloomingdale, Van Buren county, Michigan. ^[3] In 1870 L. K. Holmes is recorded as being thirty-nine years of age and living in Bloomingdale, Van Buren county, Michigan. ^[4]

Lyman wed secondly Louisa M., born in 1843 in Michigan.

Lyman wed thirdly Eliza Cheeney, widow Hoskins (b. 1839 in NY) on 8 November 1896 in Bloomingdale, Van Buren, Michigan. ^[5]

Lyman K. Holmes died on 16 January 1915 in Allegan, Allegan county, Michigan. ^[6]
