Biography

William was born in 1767. He was the son of Charles Holmes and Mary Foster. He was educated at Killygordon School and graduated at Glasgow College, after which he kept an academy in England. He entered the British Army in 1798, and served in the American campaign of 1812. After the Peace in 1814 he retired to the North of Ireland. He was married but had no issue. He passed away in 1855.[1][2]
