Biography

William Henry Holmes, 71, oldtimer of Maymont district, passed away on Tuesday afternoon after a lenghty illness. He was born in Clairendy (sic), Iowa, in 1864 (sic). He came to Maymont in 1904 and had farmed here since. He was a member of the Odd Fellows' Lodge and for several terms acted as trustee for the Grey School district. His home, to all who knew him, was known for its hosypitality (sic). He leaves his widow, an adopted son, three sisters, two brothers and a host of friends. The funeral service was conducted Thursday from the United Church with the Rev. H. Hamilton officiating. There were many lovely floral tributes. Pallbearers were W. Dawson, H. Johnston, W. Andrew, G. Mohler, W. Schmidt and J. Rolfe.
