Biography

Young Anderson Holt was born in Haw River, North Carolina on April 27, 1844. In the 1850 and 1860 census his family is listed as living in the Lower Chatham area. This is the same area as his future wife Thenea and her Poe family lived. On March 6, 1862 Young had enlisted in the Civil War. He was in the 48th Division Company G. Chatham County as a private. His future father-in-law Jackson Poe had enlisted in the same 48th. Thenea's father did not survive the war and died soon after his enlistment. Young Anderson was wounded and was a prisoner of war. He was confined at Andersonville, Ga until his release on June 27. 1865. Young returned to Chatham County and was married to Thenea on Feb. 21, 1867. His wife Thenea died at a young age in 1891. Young Holt remarried April 26, 1892 to Etta Collier. She also died shortly afterwards. He remarried for the third time to Minnie Albardy on November 6, 1895. They had 2 more children before his death in December 23, 1917. Young Anderson Holt was laid to rest next to his wife Thenea Louisa Poe Holt at Providence Cemetery, Alamance County, North Carolina. The only personal family history that I know about Young Anderson Holt was that his great great uncle was the Governor of North Carolina.
