It is not known if he was married at the time of his passing. His death information relates that he was burned to death by an accidental conflagration. The accidental fire occurred at his Uncle Bud's home. His Uncle was able to escape the fire without injury. Zirl was overcome primarily by the smoke according to his obituary, and his body was not burned. Zirl was buried at the Fort Gibson cemetery in Oklahoma.
Hartshorne Sailor Dies of Suffocation In Fire in Arizona
HARTSHORNE - Zirl Lee Holton, 29-year-old Hartshorne serviceman, died Monday of suffocation in a house fire at Globe, Ariz, relatives here were notified.[1]
