Note: Elizabeth "Lib" Honeycutt Faggart passed away on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Horizon Bay Assisted Living Center in Concord. Mrs. Faggart was born in Cabarrus County on May 27, 1928, to the late Ada Bell (Ferris) Honeycutt and Eli Ingram Honeycutt. Lib was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Stacey Lee Faggart Lib married Stacey Lee Faggart on June 7, 1946. Lib was one of the most unselfish individuals anyone could ever meet. In 1984 she received Volunteer of the Year Award from NC Association of Retarded Citizens; she spent 20 years working on behalf of handicap people in Cabarrus County. She served 8 years on the Cabarrus County Group Home Board and held almost every office in the organization, including chairman with no monetary compensation. Lib ran and helped start the 1st group home in Cabarrus County, she took a personal interest in each resident in terms of clothing, integration into the community and social skills. She also received the Southeastern Region Volunteer of the Year for ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens). Lib was also involved in the Cabarrus County Home Demonstration Club which she helped organize. She served as president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer of The Allen Club over the years and held post of president, secretary, treasurer of Cabarrus County Home Demonstration council and district historian. In 1964 Lib represented Cabarrus County in The United Nations Study Tour. She visited the World's Fair in New York, the United Nations and John F. Kennedy gravesite in Arlington Cemetery. Lib and Stacey provided a home and love for numerous foster children in the mid sixties and early seventies. Lib was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, and also a member of the Quilting Club and Elizabeth Circle of her church. A visitation will be held on Monday, Oct.12, 2009, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord from 6 until 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Mount Hermon Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Norbert Hahn, and the Rev. Don Newman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Lib is survived by her son, David Faggart of Morganton; daughter, Sharon Stoudemayer and husband, Eddie, of Concord; granddaughter, RiSha' Staci Mattingly and husband, Sgt. Garold, U.S. Army 82nd Airborne-currently serving in Afghanistan; sisters, Margaret Pritchard of Tennessee, Sylvia Blackwelder of Concord, Rachel Kluttz of Concord, Rebecca Fine and husband, David, of Denton; and many nieces and nephews and their children which represent four generations. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Eden Gardens of Concord (now Horizon Bay) for the compassion, love, concern and care they provided Lib for the past 1 ½ years.
