Born in 1735 per James Branch Cabell and Quaker records. Quaker records and Cabell also indicate that he was living as late as 1767, but say nothing definitive about his death. It is possible that he just left the Quaker faith, as it appears that the Hunnicutt family had some Quaker/slavery related splits around this time. No tombstone or other records of him exist.
Nearly every family tree on the internet has Rachel Lyles as his wife, and Drury, Dempsey, and Ambrose Honeycutt (the three of them are the patriarchs of the Stanly County Honeycutts) as his sons, as well as Moses, Bolen, and others. There is no evidence to prove these relationships, though, so I have removed them on here as wife and sons. I am posting their names here for reference.
Alternate, unsourced claim says he died after 1776, perhaps based upon disputed son Moses being born in about 1776 (as opposed to after 1767, as another unsourced Moses showed).

Lastly, there is no evidence anywhere that Jesse died in 1767. The Quaker records show him alive in 1767, but have no further mention of him. Either he left the faith, which would make sense if Drury, Ambrose, Dempsey, and Moses with their totally Baptist descendants were actually his sons, or he died following 1767. Either way, I changed his death date to "after 1767."
His last name is spelled "Hunnicutt" in the source material, and that makes sense, as all of the Quaker Hunnicutts in VA used that spelling "Honeycutt" seems to be an invention of their descendants, the North Carolina Honeycutts. I did not change the LNAB due to WikiTree practices, but I recommend this be done by someone with authority to do so.
Also, in over a year that I have been researching, I have found NO primary source info to suggest that Drury, Ambrose, and Dempsey were sons of Jesse. I think it's even more likely Moses J. (read: Moses Jesse) was a son of Jesse than these three, and WikiTree removed that link for not enough evidence.
