Biography

Letter to Gail Hood Helmer from her "Uncle Olah":
"This Nathaniel Hood built a house in 1746 by a pond which is now called Hood's Pond. This house remained in possession of the Hood descendants until quite recently. I have visited this house in Topsfield. At the time I was there for the first time, the house stood on its original site but has since been moved to a new location and renovated by its new owners. The house had the original gunstock supports in the corners of the rooms and in an open chamber, twigs still remained on the branches used to support the roof."

Nathaniel was born on 9 June 1669 in Lynn, Essex, Massachusetts. He was the son of Richard Hood Sr. and Mary (Newhall) Hood.

When Nathaniel was 37 he married Joanna Dwaniel on 16 October 1706 in Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts.[1] The couple had 8 children:

  1. Joseph Hood
  2. Nathan Hood
  3. Nathaniel Hood
  4. Susanna (Hood) Cummings
  5. Marcy Hood
  6. John Hood
  7. Amos Hood
  8. Richard Hood.

Nathaniel died at the age of 79 on 30 October 1748 in Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts.
