She attended the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Home Economics degree and met her future husband, Donald D. Dunlop. After graduation, she married Don and the couple moved to Pyote Air Force Base in Pyote, Texas, where Don served as a B-29 Flight Engineer Instructor during World War II. Maxine was active in civic and social improvement activities everywhere she lived. She established a pre-school when her children were young, earned a Master's in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Oklahoma in 1968, and volunteered at community organizations and children's museums. While living in Miami, she pursued graduate level studies in Diet and Nutrition from Florida International University. She and Don played tennis and bridge, enjoyed ballets and plays, traveled around the world, and adored their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hall and Annie Hooker, sister and best friend, Patricia Parker, and devoted husband of 67 years, Donald Dunlop.
