WILL OF HENRY HOOVER DATED 30 MAY 1827
In the neme of God amen. I HENRY HOOVER of Muskingum County and State of OH being sick and weak in body but of soound mind memory and under standing and considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof, do therefore make and publish this my last Will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say-
First I do give and bequeath to my daughter MARY VIC BEN (?) the sum of One hundred and fifty dollars in money, two cows, ? one copper tea kettle, one large ? kettle, one large dutch oven -
I give and bequeath to my son in law JOHN GORDEN (?) the sum of Five dollars.
I give and bequeath to my son in law JONAH DEAVER the sum of One dollar together with what he alreaady has received from me.
I give and bequeath to my son JOHN HOOVER the sum of One dollar after the pament of a note I had against him for the sum of twenty three dollars.
I give and bequeath to my son in law JAMES (?) SNOW and his wife BETSY (?) my daughter the sum of one dollar together with a note now in my possession executed by JOHN SINHART (?) to ELIZABETH HOOVER dated the 29 day of November 1821 payable in three days after dated for the sum of thirty eight dollars & fifty cents on which there is endorsement for ten dollars & endorsed ELIZABETH SNOW, (?) and our (?)
I give and bequeath to my grandchildren, JACOB AYERS HOOVER, JAMES, WILLIAM, HENRY & MOSES JOHN HOOVER sons of my late son HENRY HOOVER (?) the sum of Five dollars to be equally divided between them share & share alike. I do also give and bequeath to my two sons by a former wife, CHRISTIAN & ANDREW HOOVER the sum of One dollar each.
I do also direct that my executors herein appointed do sell all my real estateconsisting of Sixty acres of land in (?) County being a part of NW quarter of Section 28, Township 15 of Range 14 at (?) sale or (?) as may be most advantageous and out of the money (?) therefrom to pay all my just debts, funeral expenses and the (?) (?) and the remaining balance to be equally divided between my following children (?) that One Sixth to my daughter NANCY GORDON (?), One Sixth to my daughter MARY VICKERS, One Sixth to my daughter SUSANAH DEAVER, One Sixth to my son JOHN HOOVER, One sixth to my daughter ELIZABETH SNOW & One Sixth to the children of my late son HENRY HOOVER sum to be equally divided between them, and I direct that the money which may come to the said Children of HENRY HOOVER (?) be put out or Interest on (?) with good securities by my executors until they shall arrive at the age of twenty one and in case any of them shall die before the age of twenty one, his or their share in dying shall be equally divided between the survivors of him or them.
I do also give and bequeath to my daughter MARY VICKERS all the remainder if any of my personal estate.
And lastly I do hereby appoint WILLIAM H. MOORE Executor & MARY VICKERS executrix of this my last will and testament, revoking and anuling all former Wills by be made ratifying this and no other to be my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof I HENRY HOOVER have hereunto set my hand (?) this Thirtieth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty seven. Note the words in aforesaid County - out of (?) following all (?) lines before signing -
Signed sealed published & (?) by HENRY HOOVER X his mark. The above name (?) as his last will & testament in presence of us who have subscribed our names as Witnesses
