Absalom Hoover was born on Jan 1, 1823 in Iredell County, North Carolina. His twin brother was Archibald Hoover. His parents were John Hoover and Regina Irene Lipe. He was a Private in Co. C, 48th Regiment, North Carolina Troop during the Civil War. He was wounded at Hatcher's Run, VA on Feb 5, 1865.[1]

Absolom Hoover was a cripple according to his father's will.[2]
