Biography

Jacob Hoover is shown as the child of Peter Hoover and Mary Peninger on Find a Grave (Memorial ID#156622359. According to the birth year shown for Mary Penninger Hoover at the same site (Memorial ID# 156623184), and the birth year shown for Jacob, Mary was 15 when she gave birth to Jacob.

According to the notation at Find-A-Grave, the correct Jacob Hoover (no "W" as middle initial) was married twice.^[1] His first wife was Elizabeth Shoemaker (Memorial ID# 156623057). They were married October 18, 1796 in Rockingham County Virginia. They had the following children:^[1]

He married his second wife, Elizabeth Lamb (born March 21, 1784 in Virginia) on September 12, 1881 in Rockingham County, Virginia. (Memorial ID# 156615227) Their children were:^[1]

Other notations: "Gravesite Details. Jacob is thought to be buried in the old Hoover Family Cemetery which lies in the woods just to the west of Rt. 612, Hopkins Gap Rd, between the road and the Shoemaker River. This was part of the area where his sons Abraham and David had their farm." ^[1]

Research Notes

There is at least one other profile for this this Jacob Hoover (Hoover-74) and that one is linked to Jacob's first wife Elizabeth Shoemaker (Shoemaker-147) with links to son John Hoover. These profiles need to be merged and updated to show both Jacob's wives with appropriate links to children from each marriage. There could be more duplicate profiles ,but I stopped looking after I found these. I have tried to update as best I could, but I can't do the merging (at least I don't think I can).
