OBITUARY from Altoona Mirror April 4, 1988 page B4 - BERNARD J. HOOVER - Mr. Hoover. 87, of 201 Browning Ave., died at 2 p.m Sunday, April 3, 1988, at Mercy Hospital, following an extended illness. Mr Hoover retired as a sorter from the South Altoona Shops of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1966, after 42 years’ service. He was born Nov. 27. 1900, in Hastings, the son of Frank and Rose (Yeager) Hoover, and May 30, 1932, in Altoona, married Hazel Mower. Surviving are his wife and six brothers and sisters: Mae of Altoona, Madolyn Cook and Blair of Hollidaysburg. Agnes Leckie of Washington. DC.; Donald of McKeesport and Matthew of Duncansviile. Mr. Hoover was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Altar Society. He was also a member of the William Penn Society and the Eagles.
