While Edmund was born in Virginia, he, like his brothers, moved to Henderson, Kentucky following the War for Independence. He becomes a landowner and farmer. surveyor and commissioner. In 1796 he marries Martha Cary Jones. According to Kentucky obituaries, 1787-1854, both Edmund and Martha died on their plantation and were buried somewhere on the property. The exact location seems to have been lost to time.

On page 14 is listed children 5,6, and 7 of Samuel Hopkins and Isabella Taylor. Child #7 is Edmund showing his birth as 27 Oct 1767 and death in 1826.
