Biography
Her marriage certificate gives her DOB as Jan 27 1867
Known as Kate or Katie, she was 15 when her Mother Elizabeth Mahala Raney died. She stayed at home to take care of her father and younger siblings. She was known to be a favorite of her father Patrick and he left her his farm in his will.
On Apr 25 1906, a year and a half after her father died (at age 39) she married the widower Starlin Woodruff.
Several months after her father died her older brother Thomas filed suit to have Patrick's Will overturned citing 'undue influence' on him by Katie and her sisters Maggie and Rose.

Hopkins filed suit today to set aside the will of the late Patrick Hopkins of Barr township who died last January.,leaving an estate worth several thousand dollars, and a will disinheriting Leo Hopkins, leaving the bulk of the estate to several children. The plaintiffs allege that Maggie Madden, Katie Hopkins and Rose Spalding,children unduly influenced him by cajoling, coaxing and persuasion
