Maude, or Ella Maude as her mother would have called her when she wasn't doing what she was suppose to be doing, was born into the Hopkins family. The Hopkins family lived next door to the Heath family. They were Missouri farmers making their way west in a time of uncertainty. The Civil War had torn the nation apart and they were caught right in the middle of it. The Hopkins family lived along the Arkansas River in the county of St. Clair.

Ella Maude Hopkins Heath was born on March 18, 1884, in St. Clair County, Missouri. Her father was George Washington Hopkins II of St. Clair County and her mother was Mary E. Royse. Her mother was born in Ohio, but then moved with her family to St. Clair.
Maude's siblings were:
In 1890, Maude's mother died. Maude was only six years old. Her mother was thirty-four years old. The cause of death is unknown, however, she left 7 children at home, with the oldest being just 14 years old. Six years later her father married Ms.Winnie Porter. [1]
When she turned eighteen years old, Maude married John James Heath. [2] John James' sister, Laura Lou, married Muzzy's older brother, William Robert Hopkins. Muzzy and John had four children while living in Missouri.
Sometime after her last child, Audrey, was born in 1913, they moved to Stafford in Stafford County, Kansas, just west of Hutchinson, Kansas. By the time of the 1915 Kansas Census, the family was living in Stafford. [3]
Maude was a kind and gentle soul. A devout Christian and loving wife to John James Heath, an energetic and industrious farmer who was always ready to help others. One day, John became ill and went to bed. The family just thought it was a mild flu, but John died that night of a severe hemorrhage, at the young age of 39. The whole town mourned for the loss of their fellow farmer John Heath.
A few years after her husband's death, Maude married Harry Albright and they had a little girl that they named Margaret, who became known as Margie Jo. Maude lost her husband again, so she moved to Long Beach, California, and married again. However, by the time of the 1930 census Maude was single again taking care of her eight year old daughter, Margie Jo. [4]
Muzzy married again to a Mr. Williams. They divorced before 1940 as Maude is living with her son Rexie Theophilus, in Long Beach, California.[5]
