Biography

William Hopkins was born in 1634 in England. His parents are not yet known as of Apr 2019. He married Katherine ___ about 1668 in Southwark, Surrey, England. Children: William, John-1, Thomas, John-2, Abraham, Isaac, Sarah, Rebecca, Mary, Joseph, Benjamin.

William was known to be a "gardener beyond the Lock." The Lock was an old leper hospital that was located about where Tabbard Street and Great Dover Street now intersect. It's also interesting that he was listed in the church records, even though he was a Quaker. He is buried at the Quakers ground in Long Lane. (see ahopkinsfamily.org)
