Laura Lee Hopkins was born in 1886 to George Washington Hopkins and Mary Royse, in the Ozark Mountains, near Monegaw Springs in Chalk Level, Missouri.[1]
Laura's mother,Mary Royse passed away when Laura was only three years old.
When Laura was eleven years old her father, George Washington Hopkins remarried to Winnie Porter. The family was still living in Chalk Level and Laura's father had his hands full with six kids, almost all of them teenagers.[2]
When Laura turned 19 years old, she married Charles Ray Magee, 26 Mar 1905, in Appleton City, Missouri. In 1933 Laura's husband passed away. About nine years later, Laura married a second time to Eugene Davis on 16 Apr 19142. Eugene passed away that same year. Laura Lee Hopkins passed away on March 13, 1979 as a resident of the Golden Age Lodge. Twenty-eight years of marriage to her first husband, Charles, brought her at least 7 children. Laura was a Seventh Day Adventist and is buried at the Newton Burial Park in Nevada, Missouri.[3]
