DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with William by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with William:
My grandfather William Hopper came from Virginia to Kentucky in about 1807. I don't know from what part of Virginia he came. He had three brothers that I can remember , viz: Joseph, John and Harrison. My grandfather was a Baptist preacher, Joseph and John (were) Merchants, and Harrison a farmer. My grandfather settled and spent his life in Knox Co. Kentucky, this is in the muntains near the Tennessee line. Uncles Joseph and John were in business in Lancaster, Kentucky, near the center of the state and lived and died there.
My father was named Seymour Hopper and was a dry goods merchant at Lancaster, Kentucky, where he died. I think Uncle Harrison died in Knox Co. Kentucky. I was young when my father died and had never thought of asking him about his ancestors, which I have often regretted, I just can remember my grandfather and his brothers. The all died when I was a lad not over 10 years of age. My father has a cousinn, the Rev. Jos. Hopper residing at Perryville, Kentucky, who no doubt can give you something of the family's history. He is now a man of 60 years of age.
My father had three brothers, vis: Blagrove, Jefferson and William: they are all dead--Blagrove and Wm. leaving families near Borboursville, Kentucky.
