Biography

Elizabeth Hopper was born circa 1762 in Culpeper County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Thomas Hopper.

She married Vincent Tapp in the year 1783 in Culpeper County Virginia.

Elizabeth and Vincent had at least one daughter Ruth (Tapp) Basye.

The date of her death is in question, some records show that she was still alive in 1815. She more then likely lived most of her life in Culpeper and Rappahannock Counties in Virginia.

Discrepancies

It appears that their may have been three men named Vincent Tapp in the American Revolutionary War. This at times causes confusion between these three men and their relationships.

On page 233 of the North America, Family Histories below brings out the following: From deed records of Culpeper County, Virginia one would infer that William and Vincent sons of Vincent, Sr., married Jemima and Elizabeth Hopper, daughters of Thomas Hopper. In that in 1803 Thomas Hopper deeded land to his two sons-in-law Vincent and William Tapp. Then in 1815 Vincent and his wife Elizabeth deeded their share of the same land to William Tapp.

Other sources show that Vincent Tapp, son of Vincent and Mollie Jett was born in about 1773, and married Fanny Wright in SC., in about 1798. And later died in Ripley, Mississippi in 1859. Fanny Wright in this case would have been his second wife.

Another Vincent Tapp in 1832, while a resident of Rappahannock County Virginia, was granted a pension as a private in the Virginia Contentianal Army. He was living in Rappahannock County in 1840 at the age of 76. Which would imply his birth year was 1764.

Hooper-2308 and Hopper-2018 appear to represent the same person because: These seem to be the same people.
