Thomas's birth was registered in the last quarter of 1850 in the South Shields district. The mother's maiden name was Stobbs. [1]

On 16 May 1852 Thomas Hopper, of South Shields, born 6 Sep 1851, son of Thomas Hopper (builder) & Sarah Susannah Hopper was baptised at South Shields, St Hilda. [2]
