Biography

Mattheus Abbertus Hoppe was baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of New Amsterdam on 3 March 1658, recorded as the child of Andries Hoppe and Geertie Hendricks. Witnesses were Lambert Huybertszen Mol, Arie Corneliszen. Christina Harmens, and Engeltje Wouters.[1]

Matthys Adolphus Hoppen (Mathys Adolphus Hoppe) married Anna Paulus (Anna Poulusse) in the Reformed Dutch Church of New York on 2 May 1683. He was born in New York and living in Hackensack, and she was born in Albany and living in New York. They had registered banns of marriage in both New York and Bergen.[2][3]
