Biography


James Jefferson Horner was born on 16 July 1829 in Tennessee. He was the seventh of eleven children and son of John Horner and Sarah (Sparks) Horner. On 27 Dec 1849 James married Sara Patterson in Perry, Tennessee. Between 1850 and 1867 Sara gave birth to their seven children. The 1860 census shows James and Sara raising their children in Perry, Tennessee where John is farming.

Then James served in the 42nd Regiment for the Confederacy. He and Sara had two more children after the census had passed, then she died in 1869. On 01 June 1869 James married Frances Jane Angel in Marion, Arkansas. Between 1871 and 1880 Francis gave birth to their six children. The 1870 census[1] shows James still farming and raising his growing family now in Prairie Township, Boone, Arkansas.
