Biography

In the 1850 census of Chesterfield, County, James is living with Sarah 22, Carthena 8, William 6, Arbena 2, and Elizabeth Newby 60.

HIs daughter's birth certificate lists her father as James S. Horner, but the mother is listed as Sarah Elizabeth Horner. Was that his father's second wife?

In the daily dispatch. August 16, 1856, image 2, it states that Mrs. Mary Horner passed away. The funeral was to be at Mr. James S. Horner. It says that she was formerly of Chesterfield, aged 70 years. I don't know who Mary Horner was.

Vigilance Committees: "Gregory's Tavern - James Gregory, William Baugh, James Horner, Thomas Gregory,, Sr., and James Cox Moody's Tavern - Thomas Gregory, Jr., B. Horner, A. Edwards, R.J. Forloine and John Walker." [1]
