DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:

I am descended from Thomas Horton-181 through his son David Horton-443. I stumbled upon several other descendants of Thomas who descend thru John Horton-440 and Solomon Horton-444 and triangulate with me for 13.2cM. I'm not quite sure what to do with this since the target is so far back. Would anyone be interested in discussing this with me?

Is Horton-5873 a duplicate of H-130 (to be merged) or a different Horton altogether (to be detached)?
posted by Lois (Hacker) Tilton
See research note on profile of Horton-7082.

The evidence suggests that the profiles should be detached, as there are no grounds for supposing the relationship

Non-existent Thomas Horton b. 1638 Springfield, Mass. What to do with him?

If the information IS prevalent elsewhere, then I would keep the profile, documenting both why it is an error and also the source of the bad information. I would then process it (one week's notice on G2G) as a Disproven Existence profile. Once the week's notice has past, all links with other profiles would be severed. The fake Thomas would no longer appear in anyone's tree, but if someone tried to re-create it, they would (hopefully) discover it. answered 1 day ago by Jack Day G2G6 Pilot (224k points)

Thomas Horton-3209; mother is incorrect, the date of birth, place of birth and all his siblings are incorrect. Thomas Horton-3209, of Springfield is a largely false profile.

The siblings of Thomas Horton are the children of Thomas Horton of Springfield, MA There is no Thomas Horton b. 1638 Springfied, son of Thomas Horton of Springfield, as far as I know. Then someone has attached the wife? of Thomas Horton of Rehoboth. This does not fix the problem.

Horton-3209 and Horton-181 appear to represent the same person because: These look like a good match to me. The mother listed is incorrect and will need to be left off.
