Russell Hosie was born on 19 September 1832 at Finniscroft Farm, Campsie, Stirlingshire, Scotland, son of Agnes (Gilmour) Hosie and Robert Hosie.[1]
He married Elizabeth Davis on 7 May 1864 at the Commerical Hotel, Bairnsdale, Victoria, Australia.[2]
Russell died on 20 December 1877 at the Mitchell Hotel, Bairnsdale, aged 45 years.[3] His remains were buried on 23 December 1877 in Bairnsdale.[citation needed]
