Biography

Ira Hoskins was born in 1800 in the USA and died in 1877. He married Susan Wharton Hoskins.[1] They had at least two children: Jacob and Christiana. Ira is buried at Methodist Church Cemetery, Muskingum Co., Ohio.

There is confusion about Ira's mother, Hannah Wells Hoskins, and therefore perhaps his father as well. There is a FindAGrave link for Ira's mother Hannah Wells/Hannah Wells Hoskins with the same dates in both Groton, Connecticut and Morgan Co., Ohio. Link to graves at Wightman Cemetery in Groton, CT.

Groton has a picture of the tombstone, and a sister and parents are buried there as well. Since there is no photograph of the tombstone at Mt. Zion Cemetery at Bristol, Morgan Co., Ohio, one may assume Hannah may have stayed in Connecticut, not moved to Ohio, or there may be two Hannahs, but who are the parents in that case? Ira's connection to Rosewell Hoskins and Hannah Wells Hoskins, if any, needs to be proven.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Ira by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Ira:
