Biography

Shirley Anderson, age 89, of Lansdale, formerly of Blue Bell and Oreland died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. Mary Manor where she had resided for 4 years.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA she was the daughter of the late Walter and Elizabeth (nee. Fisher) Hoskins. She was a longtime employee of Gwynedd Mercy University where she worked in the Registrar Office. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Gwynedd Mercy Choir with whom she traveled to many countries throughout Europe. Always striving to improve herself she enrolled at Gwynedd Mercy University and graduated in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Vandermark, in 2003 and then her second husband, Robert Anderson, in 2007. She is survived by her loving daughter Sharon Ciampa and her husband Ralph of Ardsley, her beloved granddaughter Jennie Keough and her husband Ed of Lansdale as well as one great grandson Evan Keough.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Anderson's Funeral Mass on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Mary Manor, 701 Lansdale Ave., Lansdale, where the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM before Mass. Interment Ivy Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Shirley's name may be sent to Gwynedd Mercy University, 1325 Sumneytown Pike, Gwynedd Valley, PA. 19437. Arrangements are by Simcox-McIlvaine Funeral Home in Lansdale.
