Henry Charles Howard, was born on 12 August 1791 at George Street, Hanover Square in Middlesex, the only child of Bernard Edward Howard, later 12th Duke of Norfolk and his wife, Lady Elizabeth Belasyse. His Catholic baptism was registered at the Portuguese Chapel on South Audley Street.[1]

He was styled as the Earl of Surrey from 1815 when his father succeeded as 12th Duke of Norfolk.


Family

He married Lady Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower, daughter of George Granville Leveson-Gower, 1st Duke of Sutherland and Elizabeth Sutherland, Countess of Sutherland, on 27 December 1814.

They had five children:[2]

  1. Henry Granville Howard, later Fitzalan-Howard, born 7 November 1815, succeeded his father as 14th Duke of Norfolk;
  2. Lord Edward George Howard, later Fitzalan-Howard, born 20 January 1818, succeeded as Baron Howard of Glossop;
  3. Lady Mary Charlotte Howard, born 13 December 1822,
  4. Lord Bernard Thomas Howard, born 30 December 1825, died at Cairo 21 December 1846;
  5. Lady Adeliza Matilda Howard, born 14 August 1829, married 4 October 1855, Lord George Manners


He died on 18 February 1856 at age 64.

Fitzalan-Howard-17 and Howard-2889 appear to represent the same person because: Same name and dates of birth/death. I proposed the merge in this direction because from the sources I'm finding, Howard was still the correct LNAB until Henry's children's generation.
